Open Call for Billboard Painting Workshop 2014 June 2st – June 14th
The participating artists in the workshop are offered:
All materials (painting equipment, paint, UV paint, scaffold, water resistant sheet, size approx. 3.80 x 4,30 m).
Own room and food from June 2sh to June 14th
Once the artwork is finished, the artist will receive a fee of € 3,500 for the painting – the amount covering payment for the artwork and subsequently copyright.
The finished artwork will belong to Viborg Billboard Painting Foundation and hereby the artwork will become part of the future Viborg International Billboard Painting Festival.
Joint arrangements such as tours to art museums and network with local artists.
The artists will get a very large exposure in relation to visitors and media coverage.
Application to take part in the 2014 Billboard Painting Workshop has to be sent by mail to the secretariat incl. Name, address, phone number, email, web, CV, statement and 5 photo examples. Application must be sent no later than February 17th2014.
The Jury will make their decision of participants for the workshop 2014 before March 1st .
The Viborg International Billboard Painting Festival opens on June 2st 2014. This annual recurring event – only to be found in Viborg – will put the chosen artists and Viborg as a cultural city known all over the world. The objective of the Billboard Painting Festival is to create maximum exposure of the artists in relation to both the many visitors and to life in artistic circles in general. Viborg International Billboard Painting Festival introduces the already existing Billboard Paintings in June, July and August. In the month of June Viborg International Billboard Painting Workshop is going to be a major event.
Theme: Artist who wants to apply the workshop of 2014 must be familiar to Billboard Painting, as this year’s theme is BILLBOARD which in the literal sense means a painting that has a message that can be experienced, for example, when we are driving along the highway.
After recommendation to the arts committee during the Billboard Painting Festival, approx. 6-8 international artists will be invited to be part of the workshop, where the artists will paint new Billboard paintings in the open forum. Hereby the artists will experience a great cohesion during the creative process and at the same time the audience will be able to follow the making of the various billboards from start to finish.
